Bulgarian president praises Azerbaijani leader's vision for future-oriented Baku
Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has transformed Baku into a city where global discussions increasingly focus on the future.
Addressing the WUF13 Leaders’ Summit in Baku, Iotova also expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani leader for the successful organization of the event, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“President Ilham Aliyev has transformed Baku into a place where everyone talks about the future. Currently, 2.8 billion people in the world are homeless. To solve this problem in the next decade, we need to build one house every second. This is not a question of the market, but of justice,” Iotova said.
She stressed that when a city loses its ability to provide housing, it also risks losing its population. According to her, a modern city must be a space where no one feels excluded.
“The problems are the same, so the solutions must be the same. Investments must be focused on people. Smart city systems only make sense when they serve people,” the Bulgarian president concluded.
