CAIR: Azerbaijan's relations with France strained as Armenia gains diplomatic ground
Relations between Azerbaijan and France, as well as broader ties with the European Union (EU), have become entangled in the ongoing Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, according to the Centre for Analysis of International Relations (CAIR).
The CAIR’s remarks followed an article on the Armenian news website Civilnet, titled “Azerbaijan’s Digital War Against France,” which accused Azerbaijan of using digital tactics to target France, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The Centre attributed the deterioration in Azerbaijan-France relations to the policies of the current French administration.
"Due to the stance of the French government, Azerbaijan's relations with France have significantly worsened, and as a result, Azerbaijan's broader engagement with the European Union has been compromised," the CAIR said.
The analysts pointed out that official Paris has increasingly blamed Azerbaijan for its setbacks in foreign policy, including international relations and issues with France's overseas territories.
Armenia, according to the Centre, continues to benefit from France's support, using it to exert pressure on Azerbaijan in the diplomatic arena.
