Canadian PM hails Azerbaijan–Armenia peace as progress in global diplomacy White House talks

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, speaking at a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, highlighted the importance of recent developments in global politics, including the establishment of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Carney stressed that these events reflect significant progress in international relations.

During the talks held on August 8 in Washington, the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a joint declaration consisting of seven points. One of them concerns the launch of the Zangezur Corridor, also known as the “Trump Route,” which represents an important step towards unblocking regional communications. In addition, the foreign ministers of both countries initialled the Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations.

Carney noted that these achievements became possible thanks to the efforts of the international community and emphasised the role of the United States in promoting peace in the region. He also expressed hope that this experience would serve as an example for resolving other conflicts around the world.

The Carney–Trump meeting at the White House took place within the framework of growing cooperation between Canada and the United States on trade and security issues. The two leaders discussed a range of economic topics, including tariffs on steel, aluminium, and automobiles, as well as opportunities to deepen bilateral partnership.

Carney emphasised that Canada and the United States must work together to address global challenges and strengthen stability worldwide. He expressed confidence that joint efforts would yield positive results for both countries and for the entire international community.
