Caspian Sea records repeated tremors within hours
The Caspian Sea has been hit by a series of earthquakes, with three separate tremors recorded on April 14, according to seismic monitoring data.
The latest quake, with a magnitude of 3.8, struck at 10:00 local time, the Bureau of Earthquake Research reported. The epicentre was located at a depth of five kilometres, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Earlier the same morning, at 06:43 local time, a magnitude 3.1 earthquake was recorded, according to the Republican Seismological Service Centre. That tremor originated at a depth of 50 kilometres.
A further seismic event, with a magnitude of 3.2, was also detected at 03:03 local time, with the epicentre at a depth of 29 kilometres.
The latest activity comes after several days of increased seismicity in the Caspian Sea region.
