Chairman: Special commission established to highlight truth about Western Azerbaijan

A special commission has been established within the Western Azerbaijan Community following a call by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during his speech at the 80th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.

Aziz Alakbarli, Chairman of the Western Azerbaijan Community, told reporters that the commission’s primary goal is to identify previously unknown sources related to Western Azerbaijan.

“Since its creation, the Western Azerbaijan Community has worked to bring the truth about Western Azerbaijan to the international community. Following the President’s call, a special commission was established within the Community. We are mobilising all our resources to uncover previously unknown sources connected to Western Azerbaijan and present the Azerbaijani truth in a broader format,” Alakbarli said.

During his address at the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the importance of researching Azerbaijan’s history and cultural heritage, including historical Azerbaijani lands now outside the country’s borders. He stressed that understanding these lands and documenting historical facts is crucial for preserving national identity and promoting the truth about Azerbaijan to the international community. 

The speech underscored the role of science and research in supporting these efforts, providing context for initiatives such as the establishment of special commissions to identify historical sources and present Azerbaijan’s narrative globally.
