Chess master from Azerbaijan may become the winner of the Norway Chess tournament

Representative of Azerbaijan Shakhriyar Mammadyarov may become the winner of the Norway Chess tournament held in Stavanger, Norway today.

Report informs, the 37-year-old grandmaster will play white pieces against his compatriot Teymur Radjabov on the last 9th day of the competition.

Mammadyarov is currently in second place with 14.5 points. Radjabov is in 9th place with 6.5 points.

World champion Norwegian Magnus Carlsen is leading with 15 points. The 32-year-old chess player will play his last game with black pieces against Bulgarian Veselin Topalov.

The tournament will end on June 10, its prize fund is 260 000 USD.
