CICA hosts farewell reception for Azerbaijani ambassador to Kazakhstan PHOTO

A farewell reception in honour of Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Aghalar Atamoglanov, was held at the headquarters of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Astana.

The event was organised at the invitation of CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay and was attended by members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Kazakhstan, Caliber.Az reports per state media.

Sarybay noted that Atamoglanov’s diplomatic tenure in Kazakhstan coincided with an important stage in CICA’s development and highly praised the constructive cooperation between the Azerbaijani Embassy under his leadership and the organisation’s Secretariat.

He emphasised that under Azerbaijan’s chairmanship, CICA continues to work with its member states and Secretariat to implement the decisions adopted at the Sixth CICA Summit in Astana.

Sarybay expressed confidence that the upcoming CICA Summit in Baku would mark another significant milestone in the organisation’s evolution and serve as a fitting outcome of the dedicated efforts of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship and all member states.

He also highlighted that the decision by the President of Kazakhstan to award Atamoglanov the Order of “Dostyk,” Second Class, was a well-deserved recognition of his contribution to strengthening the strong friendship and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

For his part, Atamoglanov stated that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to deepening comprehensive cooperation within the CICA framework and views the organisation as an effective platform for developing practical confidence-building mechanisms across Asia.

He noted that Azerbaijan, as the current chair of CICA, has launched a number of initiatives and organised important events. According to the ambassador, the CICA Summit scheduled to take place in Baku in October will represent a key stage of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship and help consolidate the achievements made in the organisation’s ongoing transformation process.

During the reception, Atamoglanov was also awarded the “30 Years of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University” medal in recognition of his special contribution to the development of the university.
