CIS IPA observers to start monitoring of Azerbaijani Milli Majlis elections
International observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA) are set to commence short-term monitoring of the snap parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan starting on August 29.
The delegation, which includes accredited MPs and senators from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, will arrive in Azerbaijan on the same day and begin their monitoring activities immediately, Caliber.Az report via local media.
Their schedule includes meetings with key figures such as the leadership of the Central Election Commission, the Constitutional Court, and representatives from various election headquarters of the parties participating in the elections.
This initiative follows Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's decision on June 28 to dissolve the Milli Majlis of the sixth convocation and call for extraordinary parliamentary elections on September 1, 2024.
The observers' role will be crucial in ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process.
