CIS observers begin monitoring Azerbaijan's election preparation
Chairman of the Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov met with a delegation led by Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Nurlan Seyitov on August 13.
The delegation is in Azerbaijan to observe the upcoming snap parliamentary elections, Caliber.Az reports citing the local media.
During the meeting, Panahov emphasized that the CEC is open to collaboration with international organisations.
Seyitov stressed that long-term observers from the CIS have already begun their activity and are closely monitoring the preparation for the elections in Baku and the districts. He also expressed confidence that the parliamentary elections will be conducted freely, fairly, and transparently in accordance with the legal requirements.
The sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
The snap parliamentary elections on September 1 will take place across all territories of Azerbaijan.
