COP Bureau member asserts Azerbaijan's enduring role in climate action
Azerbaijan's potential in wind energy and hydrogen production serves as a solid foundation in the battle against climate change, according to Andrej Bojic, former vice-president of the Framework Convention on Climate Change and COP Bureau member.
In an interview with Report, Bojic highlighted the prospects of collaboration with the European Union, a leading entity in climate policy, as advantageous for Azerbaijan.
Bojic remarked, "Through the implementation of COP29, Azerbaijan will etch its name into the annals of climate change history."
He underscored Azerbaijan's opportunity to leverage the outcomes of the forthcoming conference to reshape its economy by embracing new technologies, such as ESG principles (environmental, social, and corporate governance), and fostering the development of green cities.
"Azerbaijan stands at a pivotal moment to showcase, through its own example, that with modern technologies, clear regulations, and robust financial frameworks, every nation can successfully transition to renewable energy sources, adopt new economic models, and address the challenges of climate change," Bojic concluded.
