Corsican activist expresses gratitude to Azerbaijan VIDEO

02 April 2024 19:43

Türkiye's Haber Global TV channel has prepared footage about the French island of Corsica.

The footage shows the fight against French neo-colonialism. Dissatisfaction with the French authorities was growing on the island. After the murder of imprisoned fighter for the independence of Corsica Yvan Colonna in 2022, a wave of protests covered the island. French President Emmanuel Macron announced the autonomy to calm the unrest. However, the protesters said that the autonomy was not enough, Report informs.

Member of the Nazione movement, which united supporters of Corsica's independence, Eric Simoni said that they do not approve France’s proposal about autonomy.

“Therefore, we will continue working on a real political solution. The French authorities could be behind the death of Colonna,” he stressed.

The footage shows that this is not the first such step against Corsica. They use all means, including political pressure, not to recognise our people. French President Emmanuel Macron is acting contrary to the basic principles of both his country and the European Union. He tries to teach other countries democracy, but does not recognise the right of the Corsican people to self-determination. Macron's efforts are not aimed at any solution to the problem.

The movement members Anto Simoni and Nicolas Pinzutti have been arrested on terrorism charges and are still being held in Paris.

In conclusion, Simoni expressed gratitude to all countries supporting them, including Azerbaijan.
