Ukraine keeps defending its sovereignty on global stage, envoy says
Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husyev has emphasised that Ukraine continues to defend its sovereignty amid ongoing challenges.
Writing in a column on the occasion of Ukraine’s 34th Independence Day, Husyev highlighted Ukraine’s commitment to international law, the UN Charter, and the principles of territorial integrity, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
“International partners support Ukraine and are creating new formats of cooperation. Recently, over 30 countries united in the ‘Coalition of the Willing,’ reaffirming their commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace while increasing pressure on the aggressor,” he noted.
The ambassador also highlighted the strong relationship between Kyiv and Baku, particularly Azerbaijan’s humanitarian assistance.
“I would like to express special gratitude to the leadership and people of Azerbaijan. By a separate decision of President Ilham Aliyev in August, Ukraine received a new shipment of electrical equipment worth $2 million to restore power systems damaged by Russian attacks. Earlier in February, $1 million was allocated for similar assistance. Since the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, Azerbaijan has provided humanitarian aid — medicines, food, generators, and more. This support has enabled the implementation of key social projects in Irpin, a city severely affected and liberated from Russian occupation in March 2022. In addition, Azerbaijan regularly organises rehabilitation and recreation programs for Ukrainian children. We are deeply grateful for this fraternal assistance and will always remember it,” Husyev said.
He added that Ukraine and Azerbaijan are actively cooperating in the energy sector, achieving “significant results” and agreeing to continue joint efforts.
