Counter-ISIS operation in Türkiye: 21 suspects detained
Turkish authorities have conducted an operation against the terrorist organisation ISIS, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced.
A total of 24 suspects were identified — nine of them foreign terrorist fighters — who were found to have used the Rockhetchat application to communicate with ISIS-linked individuals, spread organisational propaganda on social media, and maintain ties with conflict zones, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
The operation was conducted at 22 addresses across 11 districts, resulting in the detention of 21 suspects.
Efforts are underway to locate and detain the remaining three fugitives.
In a separate nationwide crackdown on terror networks carried out on October 27, Turkish police also detained 20 individuals accused of links to the Fetullah Terrorist Organisation (FETÖ).
The arrests, directed by the Konya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, targeted members of the group’s covert network within the Turkish Armed Forces.
The coordinated raids spanned nine provinces, including Ankara, İzmir, and Istanbul, while efforts continue to apprehend the remaining suspects.
