Covert armed group created under auspices of Iranian special services exposed in Azerbaijan

The State Security Service of Azerbaijan is carrying out complex investigative measures related to the secret involvement of citizens of the country by the Iranian special services in military exercises outside the country, their financing and direction of activity, keeping them under influence by blackmail and other violent methods in order to use them against the interests of the state security of Azerbaijan.

The State Security Service announced that operational and investigative measures established that under the control of the Iranian special services, by promoting radical extremist religious ideas, an illegal armed group was secretly created involving the Azerbaijani citizens - Ibrahimbayli Tohid Asadov Rovshan, Mammadov Orkhan, Hajiyev Elshad (Akram Hajizade) and others are currently hiding in Iran. These persons were convicted for similar criminal acts by a court decision and put on the international wanted list in 2018.

The operation of the State Security Service followed the earlier reports about possible measures against Iranian agents in Azerbaijan.
