Cuba welcomes Azerbaijani delegation for talks on bilateral, global cooperation PHOTO
On May 22, a delegation from Azerbaijan led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev paid an official visit to Cuba, underscoring the strong bilateral cooperation and shared commitment to deepening ties, particularly through joint efforts within international organisations.
During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation held productive working meetings with Cuba’s Deputy Foreign Minister Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, as well as with ambassadors from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member states, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
Rafiyev also gave an interview with Cuban TV channel Cubavision Internacional.
Both parties exchanged views on climate change challenges and underscored Azerbaijan’s accomplishments during its COP29 chairmanship, stressing the importance of continued joint efforts in environmental cooperation. In meetings with CARICOM ambassadors, Azerbaijan reaffirmed its commitment to deepening relations with the Caribbean Community.
The talks emphasized humanitarian support and other assistance Azerbaijan has extended to small island developing states during its tenure as chair of the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as its ongoing engagement. Both sides expressed mutual interest in expanding bilateral ties, advancing joint projects, and fostering collaboration across multilateral platforms, reflecting a shared vision for closer partnership.
