Cultural heritage of Western Azerbaijanis destroyed in Armenia Statement by the Community
The material and intangible cultural heritage of Western Azerbaijanis has been destroyed within the modern borders of Armenia, the head of public relations of the Western Azerbaijan Community, Ulviyya Zulfikar said.
Addressing a meeting with participants of the Fifth Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth, Zulfikar pointed out that over the past 200 years, Azerbaijanis have faced constant deportations from their ancestral lands, having been forcibly displaced four times in the past century alone, Caliber.Az reports.
She noted that during the last deportation, between 1987 and 1991, approximately 300,000 Azerbaijanis were forcibly expelled from Armenia.
"Our community is actively working to raise awareness of the global public on these injustices. Our goal is to achieve the peaceful and safe return of Western Azerbaijanis to their homeland and to ensure the protection of their rights. The support of our compatriots abroad, especially the younger generation, is crucial in this endeavor," Zulfikar emphasized.
