Czech trade minister plans another visit to Azerbaijan with business delegation
Czech Industry and Trade Minister Karel Havlíček has stated that he plans to visit Azerbaijan again before the end of the year, this time accompanied by a delegation of business representatives.
The minister said the visit would build on previous agreements reached during the April 27 meeting in Gabala, when Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš visited Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
According to Havlíček, the trip is expected to take place closer to summer or at the beginning of autumn.
He also recalled that the Czech Republic is aiming to sign a long-term gas supply contract with Azerbaijan.
“Several weeks ago, we agreed on one billion cubic meters of gas in the United States; yesterday in Azerbaijan, on a volume twice as high. This should cover up to 40% of the Czech Republic’s gas consumption over three years. We are diversifying resources and delivering on our promises,” he noted.
The minister added that talks with the Azerbaijani side are aimed at strengthening Czech energy security and expanding opportunities for Czech businesses.
