Czechia, Azerbaijan team up to modernise transport infrastructure
Czechia and Azerbaijan have identified significant opportunities to exchange expertise in the field of public transportation.
This week, a delegation from the Czech Ministry of Transport conducted meetings in Baku focused on the development of transport infrastructure, “smart” mobility solutions, and digital collaboration, according to a domestic news agency citing the Czech ministry.
The visit aimed to strengthen the partnership between the two countries in transportation, intelligent mobility, and digital technologies.
During discussions at Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Czech delegation reaffirmed its support for national institutions and companies operating in Azerbaijan.
“Azerbaijan is undergoing rapid development and modernisation of its transport infrastructure and rolling stock, with particular attention to digitalisation. These trends open concrete and promising opportunities for Czech companies capable of providing their expertise, technologies, and innovative solutions,” the ministry noted.
The talks also addressed enhancing institutional cooperation between relevant ministries. Both sides highlighted the importance of sharing know-how and best practices in public transport systems, smart mobility solutions, and the digital transformation of transportation services.
A separate portion of the discussions focused on the agenda of the International Transport Forum (ITF) under the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. With Czechia set to take over the ITF chairmanship from Azerbaijan this spring, both parties emphasised the need for close coordination and exchange of insights to effectively address global challenges in the transport sector.
