Deadline expires for several presidential election procedures in Azerbaijan
A deadline for additional clarifications in the voter lists submitted for familiarization of voters expires on January 3 in Azerbaijan.
Trend reports that the Calendar Plan of main actions and measures for preparation and holding of snap presidential election in Azerbaijan envisages this.
The clarifications shall be submitted to voters by precinct election commissions no later than 35 days before the voting day, until January 3, 2024.
Apart from that, the order of production, text and form of ballot papers, their quantity, requirements for their production shall be approved by the Central Election Commission (CEC)not later than 35 days before the voting day, January 3.
Snap presidential election will be held in Azerbaijan on February 7, 2024.
On December 19, the CEC approved Ilham Aliyev's candidacy for participation in the early presidential election, nominated by the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP). The CEC session held on December 21, then approved the candidacies of self-nominated candidates Zahid Oruj and Fuad Aliyev, from the Great Creation Party Fazil Mustafa, from the Great Azerbaijan Party Elshad Musayev, from the People's Front Party of United Azerbaijan Gudrat Hasanguliyev, from the National Front Party Razi Nurullayev.
On December 26, the CEC discussed the issue of approving the candidacies of self-nominated candidates Sarvan Karimov, Matlab Mutallimli, Abutalib Samadov, Fikrat Yusifov, Yusif Baghirzada, Arzuman Abdulkarimov, Yunus Oghuz and Gulamhuseyin Alibayli. Following the discussion, the issue was put to vote and adopted.
On December 30, the CEC approved the participation of self-nominated candidate Namizad Heydar oglu Safarov in the presidential election.
