Deputy minister: Azerbaijan initiator of global energy cooperation formats
Azerbaijani Deputy Energy Minister Kamal Abbasov has said that Azerbaijan is initiating global energy cooperation formats.
Abbasov made the remarks during his speech at the Voice of the Global South Summit 2023, Report informs.
He noted that Azerbaijan not only is a resource for the Southern Gas Corridor with its proven 2.6 trillion cubic metres of gas reserves, but also a green energy corridor thanks to 27 GW onshore and 157 GW offshore renewable energy.
“Along with strengthening its own energy independence, Azerbaijan is taking strategic steps to diversify the energy balance of its partners not only through oil, natural gas and electricity, but also through “green” sources,” he noted.
The deputy minister added that Azerbaijan does not depend on any country or source of energy, it intends to increase the share of renewable energy sources in electricity generation to 30 per cent by 2030.
