Deputy minister: Azerbaijan's water reserves to drop by 20% by 2050

Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Vugar Karimov has said that Azerbaijan's water reserves are expected to be reduced by 15-20 per cent by 2050.

Karimov made these remarks at the ministerial briefing on "Causes of water shortage in the country and the current situation", according to Caliber.Az.

“Some 70 per cent of Azerbaijan's water reserves are created outside our country. From this point of view, Azerbaijan is one of the countries experiencing water scarcity. Our country ranks 90th in the world in terms of water reserves per capita and 140th in terms of water reserves in general,” he added.
