Deputy minister: Zangezur Corridor to drive growth in Europe-Asia transport links
The Zangezur corridor is set to become a key driver of transport and logistics growth within the Middle Corridor connecting Europe and Asia, Azerbaijan's Deputy Economy Minister Samad Bashirli said.
“Situated at the crossroads of East-West and North-South routes, Azerbaijan leverages interconnectivity as a strategic tool for growth. We have made substantial investments in railways, roads, ports, airports, and digital infrastructure to reduce logistics costs and accelerate access to markets," Bashirli stated on October 7 during the German-Azerbaijani Export Finance Conference 2025, organised by the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce, as per Caliber.Az.
The Middle Corridor, he said, supported by streamlined customs procedures, now ensures regular and reliable connectivity between Europe and Asia. "In the future, the Zangezur corridor will further expand these routes, linking mainland Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan and other regions," the official noted.
The deputy minister emphasised that modern airports in liberated territories and the expanding Baku International Sea Trade Port — which is expected to handle up to 25 million tons of cargo annually — complement a multimodal transport system, offering investors shorter delivery times and broader market access.
