Director General: ICESCO proud of its cooperation with Azerbaijan

Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) Salim bin Mohammed al-Malik has said that ICESCO is proud of its cooperation with Azerbaijan.

Salim bin Mohammed al-Malik made these remarks at the opening ceremony of the sixth World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue dedicated to “Dialogue for Peace and Global Security” which began in Baku on May 1, Report informs.

“The historical city of Shusha will begin its activity as the cultural capital of the Islamic world from May 11. ICESCO is proud to see a new milestone in the ongoing cooperation between Azerbaijan and our organisation, which covers events, programmes, cultural projects, as well as projects in many other spheres,” he said.

Salim bin Mohammed al-Malik also welcomed the process of beginning delimitation of the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

He expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for his efforts to bring cultures closer together and strengthen peace.

Salim bin Mohammed al-Malik noted that this requires a lot of effort and work, but Azerbaijan also manages to achieve its goals thanks to such a large-scale forum.

 “Despite the achievements in science and technology, the world today continues struggling with security problems. The level of security in the world greatly decreased in 2023. Some 183 regional and international armed conflicts were observed in the world this year. This is the highest level during the last 30 years,” he said.
