Dozens killed in road accidents in Türkiye during Eid al-Adha holiday
Dozens of people have been killed in road accidents in Türkiye during the recent Eid al-Adha holiday period, Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi has stated.
In a post on X, he said 334,017 Interior Ministry personnel were deployed around the clock to ensure security and public order across the country, but despite the measures taken, 70 people were killed in road accidents, Caliber.Az reports.
According to him, 66,481 officers and 49,826 patrol vehicles were assigned to road traffic control duties.

He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and urged relatives to show patience.
At the same time, the minister noted that, compared with the average of the previous nine-day holiday periods, the number of fatal traffic accidents decreased by 45.1%, while deaths at the scene of accidents fell by 34.3%.
He added that the Eid al-Adha 2026 holiday recorded the lowest number of fatal accidents over a nine-day holiday period.
“Of course, no figures can console us. Our goal is to lose no citizens in traffic accidents. With this approach, we will continue our work for safer roads and a safer Türkiye with the same determination and sense of responsibility,” Çiftçi added.
