Dozens of Ukrainian drones shot down over Russia’s Rostov region
More than 40 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were intercepted overnight in Russia’s southern Rostov region, regional authorities said on April 21.
The governor, Yuri Slyusar, said on Telegram that air defences repelled a large-scale drone attack targeting multiple areas across the region. Several UAVs were shot down over the port city of Taganrog, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the statement, 11 districts were affected, including Azov, Kamensky, Tarasovsky, Rodionovo-Nesvetaysky, Millerovsky, Aksaysky, Kasharsky, Oktyabrsky (rural), Myasnikovsky, Milyutinsky and Sholokhovsky.
“Unfortunately, there was some damage on the ground. As a result of UAV debris falling in the Aksai district in the village of Rekonstruktor, windows in two houses were damaged and the roof was partially destroyed,” the statement said.
Authorities said emergency services were responding and that residents would receive assistance to repair the damage.
Separately, infrastructure disruptions were reported near the village of Persianovsky in the Oktyabrsky district, where a fault was detected in the railway catenary system following the incident. Train services for seven routes were temporarily suspended but later resumed after engineers restored power.
