Dutch embassy condemns Iranian drone attacks on Nakhchivan, backs Azerbaijan
The Embassy of the Netherlands in Azerbaijan has strongly condemned the drone attacks targeting the country’s Nakhchivan exclave.
According to a statement published by the embassy on Facebook, the diplomatic mission denounced the strikes and expressed solidarity with Azerbaijan.
“The Embassy strongly condemns the drone attacks against Nakhchivan earlier today. Such actions are an unacceptable violation of Azerbaijan’s security and territorial integrity and further undermine regional stability. In this difficult moment, we stand in full solidarity with Azerbaijan and those affected,” the statement said.
Earlier on March 5, unmanned aerial vehicles launched from the territory of Iran attacked facilities in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. One of the drones struck the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, while another fell near a school building in the village of Shakarabad.
Four civilians were injured as a result of the strike on the airport. Following the incident, the Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilou, was summoned to the country’s Foreign Ministry.
