Dutch PM may visit Azerbaijan this year PHOTO

The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Rob Jetten, may visit Azerbaijan later this year, according to the Dutch ambassador to Baku.

Speaking at a press briefing, Ambassador Marianne de Jong said both sides were working to arrange the trip to the Azerbaijani capital, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

“We are exploring the possibility of inviting him here to Baku this year. An invitation has been extended, and we hope to organise a visit by our new Prime Minister, Rob Jetten, to Baku,” she said.

The ambassador noted that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the Netherlands had made “significant progress” over the past year, with both countries seeking to maintain the momentum.

“I intend, during my mission, to further strengthen these ties and develop co-operation across various fields, including the economy, politics, culture and other areas.

Over the past year, we have seen significant progress, and we want to continue this trend this year and beyond,” she said.

She added that political dialogue had intensified at both technical and high levels, including contacts between the Dutch prime minister and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“Our Prime Minister highly values these contacts,” she said.
