Economic Times: India, Azerbaijan to hold foreign ministry consultations
03 April 2026 10:24
India and Azerbaijan are moving to restore political confidence, with foreign ministry consultations expected in Baku this week.
A senior Indian official is slated to travel to Azerbaijan for the talks, which have been on hold for several years, as both countries seek to implement confidence-building measures, The Economic Times reports.
The renewed engagement comes after India expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for assisting in the evacuation of roughly 200 Indian nationals from Iran. The acknowledgment was made during a meeting on April 1 between Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and India’s newly appointed ambassador to Baku, Abhay Kumar.
