Egypt marks 101st anniversary of Azerbaijani national leader’s birth PHOTO

The embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Arab Republic of Egypt has held an event dedicated to Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev.

The event was held at the Egypt-Azerbaijan Friendship Park in Qalyubia province on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of Heydar Aliyev’s birth, the embassy told Azertag.

Governor of Qalyubia province Abdul Hamid Al-Hajjan, members of the provincial council, the mayor of Qanater city and members of the municipality of Qanater city, the Azerbaijani community of Egypt, representatives of the intelligentsia and journalists attended the event.

The event participants revered the blessed memory of the national leader, laid a wreath at his monument, and read the books dedicated to the great leader and Azerbaijan in the park library.

Azerbaijani ambassador to Egypt Elkhan Polukhov informed the participants about Heydar Aliyev’s life and activity.

While speaking about the life of the great leader, his struggle for statehood, the diplomat said that the Azerbaijani people remember Heydar Aliyev as the founder and statesman-savior, who laid the foundation and preserved the independence of Azerbaijan.

“Heydar Aliyev is a brilliant leader who continued and enriched the traditions of state governance of our great historical figures,” Polukhov added.

While speaking about the role of Heydar Aliyev in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt, Polukhov spoke about the high level of bilateral cooperation, assessing the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Egypt in 2007 and the visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in January 2023 to Azerbaijan as a successful continuation of Heydar Aliyev’s policy.

Governor of Qalyubia province Abdul Hamid Al-Hajjan said that Heydar Aliyev is a brilliant politician and statesman.

He noted that the Egyptian people respect Heydar Aliyev, who can be compared with the greatest politicians and statesmen in the world.

The certificates were presented to the winners of the “Discover Azerbaijan” contest held in Egypt.

People paid a special attention to the event, held to mark the 101st birth anniversary of the Azerbaijani great leader. The event was widely covered in the Egyptian media.
