Emergency landing in Baku: Warsaw-bound flight returns after passenger falls ill
A LOT Polish Airlines flight from Baku to Warsaw made an unexpected return to Heydar Aliyev International Airport early this morning after a passenger on board experienced a sudden health emergency.
The Boeing 737, which had just taken off on its scheduled route, was forced to circle back when the condition of one traveller took a serious turn, the airline's press service told Caliber.Az.
Acting swiftly, the captain contacted air traffic control and requested an emergency landing.
According to the airport’s press service, the aircraft safely touched down in Baku at 07:45. Medical teams were immediately dispatched to the runway, where they boarded the plane and provided the passenger with urgent first aid. After an assessment, the on-site physician decided the individual could not continue the journey and transferred them to medical supervision for further care.
Meanwhile, all other passengers were temporarily escorted to the terminal building. The flight remained grounded as the aircraft underwent a precautionary technical inspection before being cleared for further travel.
The airline has not yet confirmed when the flight will resume, but all passengers are reported to be safe and in good condition.
