Envoy: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan - important regional players

Kazakh Ambassador Alim Bayel has said that Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are important players in the region, and therefore cooperation in a broad context is very important.

Bayel made the remarks at a round table on “Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan: regional cooperation”, according to Report.

He added that bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan is reaching a new level, a new stage.

He noted that the level and intensification of relations between the two countries greatly depend on the presidents’ mutual visits.

“Representatives of the Majilis of the Kazakh parliament [lower house of the bicameral parliament], the country’s prime minister, the minister of culture, etc. have visited Azerbaijan over the past four months, which shows the level of our cooperation,” the ambassador noted.

“Trust-based dialogue between our countries is the key to the dynamism of our relations,” he said.

The ambassador emphasised that the issue of the Middle Corridor is on the agenda.

“Trade, economic and investment cooperation are very important spheres of partnership for us,” Bayel said, adding that the dynamics of trade turnover between the two countries is very good.

“Trade turnover increased to $460 million in 2022, while it reached $300 million during six months of this year,” the ambassador said.

Bayel noted that the project of laying a fibre-optic communication line along the bottom of the Caspian Sea is very important.

“Practical work on this project will begin very soon. All this is being done to ensure the telecommunications independence of countries and to maintain information security,” he noted.
