Envoy: Azerbaijan to host COP29 at level of high international standards
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Sweden Zaur Ahmadov has said that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will be conducted by relevant government departments at the highest international standards.
The diplomat made the remarks in an article published by the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet, Report informs.
In his article, the envoy recalled that the decision to hold COP29 in Azerbaijan in 2024 was made unanimously.
It is noted that Azerbaijan, considered a reliable partner by the international community, was previously a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, and currently heads the Non-Aligned Movement, which is the second largest institution after the UN.
The ambassador emphasized that the country has experience in successfully hosting numerous prestigious international events, such as the Eurovision Song Contest, European Games, Europa League finals, Formula 1, International Astronautical Congress, etc.
