Envoy: Good grounds for cooperation between Visegrad Four, Azerbaijan

The countries of the Visegrad Group have good common ground for partnership with Azerbaijan, Slovak Ambassador to Baku Milan Lajčák told journalists.

According to him, this cooperation is based on a single plan developed by the European Union (EU) after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Report informs.

"This strategy is built on the elimination of multiple crises: in the field of energy, food, monetary policy and so on. The EU has decided to diversify energy sources. Azerbaijan is an extremely important partner in this. Besides, the country itself demonstrates its tendency to cooperate with the EU", he said.

According to the ambassador, the problem with energy supplies from Azerbaijan is that there is not enough capacity to deliver more gas to Europe.

"Now there are discussions on how to unite stakeholders to invest in capacity expansion. In this regard, we are strategic partners with Azerbaijan," he said.

Lajcak stressed that the Visegrad Four countries and the South Caucasus region are facing numerous global crises.

He also noted that holding of the seminar "Visegrad Group Countries and Azerbaijan", which was held on June 22 in Baku, is a good opportunity to exchange views on issues concerning all.
