Envoy: UN chief welcomes positive developments in Azerbaijani-Armenian relations
The UN secretary-general, several other international organisations and governments welcome the recent progress made as a result of direct talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan's Permanent Representative to the UN Yashar Aliyev said this during a speech at an open session of the Security Council, Report informs.
"The developments that have taken place in our region since autumn 2020, with the end of Armenia's 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani territories and the restoration of lasting peace and stability in the region, are fully in line with the resolutions adopted by the United Nations, international humanitarian law in 1993.
Continued efforts to normalise relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia based on mutual respect for each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity create hope for long-awaited sustainable and lasting peace and stability in the region," the diplomat noted.
