EU–Azerbaijan partnership deepens with focus on youth engagement, envoy says

05 June 2026 15:51

The European Union and Azerbaijan have achieved substantial progress in cooperation over the past three decades, EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Marijana Kujundžić said.

Speaking at the EU Youth Competition, Kujundžić noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the partnership between Brussels and Baku, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

“Since 1996, we have achieved significant results. Hundreds of projects have been implemented across diverse sectors, including agriculture, business development, healthcare and environmental protection. Thousands of students have also benefited from the Erasmus+ programme to study in Europe,” she said.

The ambassador stressed the importance of youth engagement in strengthening ties between Azerbaijani society and EU member states, saying that such initiatives help foster mutual understanding and intercultural dialogue.

Kujundžić also recalled that Ganja was designated the European Youth Capital in 2016 and hosted the “European Village” initiative the same year.

She invited participants to attend an education fair scheduled to be held in Baku on October 10–11.
