EU monitoring mission in Armenia appoints new head
The European Union’s monitoring mission in Armenia has appointed a new leader, with Satu Koivu replacing Markus Ritter, according to Armenian media reports.
Koivu met Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on March 31, marking her first official engagement since assuming the role, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
She formally took up her duties on February 20.
During the meeting, Koivu briefed Pashinyan on the mission’s ongoing activities. The Armenian government has attached particular importance to the EU presence, viewing it as a key element in supporting regional stability.
According to the government’s press service, discussions focused on efforts to establish lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as broader issues related to security and stability in the South Caucasus.
