EU pledges further help to Azerbaijani-Armenian normalisation process Michel's remarks on results of Aliyev-Pashinyan meeting
President of the European Council Charles Michel has said that the EU will do everything to help the normalisation of the Azerbaijani-Armenian relationship.
Michel made a quick statement to journalists following an informal meeting with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz and President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron in Chișinău, Azertag reports.
“We had a very good meeting together with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, French President Emmanuel Macron and Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz. We had the occasion to address all the topics that we have discussed in Brussels in May including connectivity, the border delimitation, the peace treaty.
This meeting has been a very good preparation for the next meeting. It will take place in Brussels, 21st of July. It means that we are working hard and we intend to support all the positive efforts in direction of the normalization of the relationships.
We intend to invite again, President Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister Pashinyan, Chancellor Scholz and President Macron to the next meeting of the European Political Community that will take place in Spain. It means that we will do everything on the EU side in order to help, provide assistance, make possible more progress towards normalization of the relationship,” he stressed.
To recap, an informal meeting between President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz and President of the Republic of France Emmanuel Macron took place in Chisinau on June 1, on the sidelines of the Second European Political Community Summit.
