EU rep: President Aliyev committed to EU settlement format of Armenian-Azerbaijani ties PHOTO
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has expressed his commitment to the EU-backed format of the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations settlement.
Toivo Klaar, the European Union's special representative for the South Caucasus, wrote this on Twitter summarizing his visit to Azerbaijan at the end of last week, Caliber.Az reports.
"A few reflections following the visit to Azerbaijan at the end of last week: 1) Important commitment by the Azerbaijani President commitment to the EU-facilitated format. 2) Many challenges remain; restraint and strong political will be needed by Azerbaijan and Armenia to reduce tensions to achieve a comprehensive settlement,” the publication reads.
To recap, on November 25 the Azerbaijani President received Toivo Klaar. At the meeting the sides exchanged views on the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the negotiation process of a peace agreement between the two countries, the results of the Brussels meeting on the delimitation of borders.
