Euronews chairman: Azerbaijan to maintain sustainable development

Azerbaijan will continue to demonstrate sustainable development thanks to its strong foundations, consistent reforms and effective leadership, says Euronews Chairman of the Board Pedro Vargas David.

Speaking at the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026), he noted that regardless of the global environment, individual states will achieve success, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

“And I am convinced that this is precisely the region and the country that will continue to develop steadily, as the fundamental prerequisites are present, reforms are being conducted, and there is strong leadership," he stressed.

Vargas David also highlighted Azerbaijan’s leadership in moving beyond the past and focusing on a peaceful future.

"We are now in Baku. The price that Azerbaijan and Armenia had to pay to embark on the path toward a shared future, and the leadership required from both sides to state: 'We are leaving the past behind and fixing our sights on a peaceful future,' turned out to be quite high," he added.

The Euronews board chairman acknowledged that communicating such a decision to society had not been easy, but said the necessary political will and leadership had been demonstrated in Azerbaijan.

"Therefore, despite a certain degree of skepticism regarding the global situation, I would like to conclude on an optimistic note: I am very positive about Azerbaijan's prospects," Pedro Vargas David concluded.
