Euronews strengthens presence in Caucasus with Baku office opening
Euronews, the European news channel, has officially inaugurated its office in Baku, marking a key step in its cooperation with Azerbaijan.
At the opening ceremony, Euronews' chairman Pedro Vargas David underscored the importance of the milestone, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Vargas David said that it was a great honor and a source of pride for him to stand before the audience that day and officially open the Euronews office in Baku. He added that Euronews was a leading European news channel broadcasting in 20 languages and reached over 145 million viewers each month, and that their presence in Baku had been made possible precisely through the collaborative work they had undertaken with Azerbaijan.
Highlighting the channel’s editorial philosophy, he stressed Euronews’ role as an independent and neutral media outlet: “We rely on facts, maintain balance, and strive to show the truth. In a world where media increasingly take sides and public debates are polarized, neutrality is key to quality journalism.”
David also emphasized the network’s commitment to promoting dialogue and peace.
He stated that while many had preferred to inflame conflicts, Euronews had supported dialogue and covered peaceful initiatives, including meetings and statements by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
He concluded that the opening of the Baku office represents a significant milestone, reinforcing Euronews’ presence in the region and reflecting its continued commitment to objective and impartial news coverage in partnership with Azerbaijan.
