Executive director: No signs of stagnation in Baku Initiative Group’s activities
The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) continues its activities with no signs of stagnation, according to its Executive Director Abbas Abbasov.
Speaking in an interview with Azertag, Abbasov noted that from the outset, some French representatives had viewed the organisation’s efforts as being directed solely against France. However, he clarified that the establishment of BIG was the decision of representatives from various overseas territories, and its mission extends beyond opposition to French colonial policies.
The organisation supports anti-colonial movements in French overseas territories as well as in the Caribbean and Africa, advocating for their struggles within the framework of international law. Abbasov underlined that BIG’s work is independent of any state policy and is conducted entirely within legal parameters.
He added that the group’s activities have not affected relations between France and Azerbaijan, emphasising that BIG’s mission-driven initiatives are not directed against any specific country.
Currently, BIG maintains close cooperation with nine of the eleven French colonies, and this partnership is expected to continue at the international level.
