Experts from Brazil to assist in decoding flight recorders from Azerbaijani plane crash in Kazakhstan
Kazakh Deputy Minister of Transport Talgat Lastaev has said that the flight recorders of the Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane that crashed near Aktau will be analyzed after experts from Brazil arrive.
“The experts will arrive on December 27,” Lastaev, who is also the chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee, said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
"There is an established algorithm, and all countries follow these standards. First, a commission is formed to investigate the crash, and based on the circumstances and all available data, it makes a decision regarding the flight recorders. The process is ongoing, fragments and parts are being collected. Experts from the manufacturer country, Brazil, will arrive on December 27, and the airline’s representatives will also be there. Once all these people are gathered, they will make a decision on the decoding process. This is the established procedure," Lastaev added.
The crash occurred on December 25, when an Embraer aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, en route from Baku to Grozny, tragically crashed near Aktau. The plane was carrying 67 people, including 37 Azerbaijanis, 16 Russians, 6 Kazakhs, and 3 Kyrgyz nationals. Sadly, 38 people lost their lives in the crash, with 29 survivors. In response, President Ilham Aliyev declared a day of mourning in Azerbaijan on December 26 to honour those lost in the tragedy.
