Extensive group of diplomats visits Zangilan, Gubadli districts PHOTO/VIDEO

11 December 2022 11:32

Members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan and Türkiye, including military attachés, traveled to the liberated Zangilan and Gubadli districts on December 10.

The Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration and Presidential Aide, Hikmat Hajiyev, reported on the trip on his official Twitter account.

"Roars of engines of civilian airplanes in Zangilan Airport. Visit of diplomatic corps from Baku and Ankara to liberated from Armenian occupation Gubadli and Zangilan regions has come to successful completion", his post from December 10 read.

According to Azertag, up to 70 embassies and over 10 international organizations with residences in Baku and Ankara attended the visit, including ambassadors, senior officials, military attachés, as well as representatives of relevant state structures of Türkiye.

A total of 150 participants arrived by plane from Baku and Ankara at Zangilan International Airport.

The plane from Ankara made history as the first international passenger flight to Zangilan International Airport, which was officially opened on October 20 with the participation of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Türkiye.

A briefing on the works already carried out on the liberated territories was given, as well as on the upcoming plans for the first State Programme for the Great Return to Territories Liberated from Occupation, based on the Presidential Order of November 16, 2022

After the briefing, the participants traveled to the city of Zangilan. On the way to the Okhchuchay riverbed, a representative of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources informed the guests on the environmental terror committed by Armenia and a number of foreign companies, purposefully dumping waste into the water, as well as on the damage caused.

In the city of Zangilan, participants were briefed on the scale of the devastation wrought by Armenia, on the rehabilitation and reconstruction work currently underway, including the new mosque being built by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, as well as on the projects planned for the first residential building, first school and other facilities in the city.

The guests were later brought to the village of Aghali in the Zangilan district and were introduced to the "Smart Village" project as well as to the rural infrastructure and the Archimedean turbine-type hydroelectric power plant.

The trip continued to the city of Gubadli, where the diplomatic group was briefed on the rehabilitation and reconstruction work being carried out in the destroyed city.
