First “Village of Military Valor” to be established in Russia’s Kamchatka
Sedanka village in the Kamchatka region, where over 60% of the male population (42 men) have participated or are currently participating in the “special military operation,” is set to become Russia’s first recipient of the honorary title “Village of Military Valor.”
The initiative has been approved by the regional commission and awaits final confirmation from Governor Vladimir Solodov, who promised the village special status in August 2025, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
In November, the regional legislative assembly passed a law, proposed by the governor, establishing the honorary titles “Village of Military Glory” and “Settlement of Military Glory.”
Under the new rules, communities where at least 15% of the male population have taken part in the “special military operation” are eligible for such recognition.
Kamchatka remains the only region in Russia to adopt this honorary title, which local officials consider a significant regional milestone.
When Governor Solodov first announced the proposed recognition in August, Sedanka had 39 participants in the “special military operation“.
According to regional government data reported by RIA Novosti, the village had 457 registered residents, with 258 actually living there, and 67 men over 18 years old.
