Azerbaijan and Iran have held high-level talks aimed at expanding trade and deepening cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking at a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the longstanding historical ties between the nations, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“Azerbaijan is committed to developing friendly relations with Iran. This year has been important for strengthening our bilateral relationship,” he said.
Bayramov added that discussions during the meetings covered a range of issues, including ongoing peace processes between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The ministers also explored opportunities for trilateral cooperation with other regional countries, encompassing both political and economic initiatives.
The foreign minister emphasised that both Azerbaijan and Iran support peace and stability in the Middle East. He described the Iranian minister’s visit as a valuable contribution to bilateral relations and noted that political dialogue between the two countries remains active.
On the economic front, Bayramov reported that trade between Azerbaijan and Iran reached $650 million in 2024, with $520 million recorded over the first ten months of 2025.
He said the talks included discussions on measures to further increase trade and highlighted the successful implementation of several joint projects.
