FM: Azerbaijan interested in expanding cooperation with African countries PHOTO/UPDATED

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received a delegation led by Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Jean-Claude Gakosso on April 2.

First, a tete-a-tete meeting between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Congolese counterpart Jean-Claude Gakosso then an expanded meeting with the delegations were held  in Baku, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.

The cooperation between Azerbaijan and Congo on bilateral and multilateral platforms, preparation for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), and the regional situation were discussed during the expanded meeting. The importance of mutual visits and talks on various spheres, including oil and energy, natural resources, the public service sector, education, tourism, humanitarian sphere, as well as the importance of developing cooperation in these spheres was emphasised.

“During the period of Azerbaijan's chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement, relations with African countries were intensively developing,” Bayramov noted, adding that Azerbaijan is interested in expanding the current cooperation.

The ministers expressed confidence that the joint declaration on cooperation and other official documents that are planned to be signed during the visit of the Congolese president to Azerbaijan will serve to further intensify the ties. The sides noted that further expansion of cultural ties between the two countries and holding cultural festivals could be useful.

Gakosso expressed satisfaction with his visit to Azerbaijan and noted the potential for the development of bilateral cooperation and the importance of using these opportunities.
