FM Bayramov: Armenia's allegations of "blockade" on Lachin road - unfounded
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with the Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Azerbaijan Dragana Kojic.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the cooperation issues between the ICRC and Azerbaijan, the situation around the Lachin road, as well as the ICRC’s activity in Khankendi, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
Bayramov noted the importance of the ICRC’s work in Azerbaijan.
He emphasised efforts to ensure the free movement of vehicles, including the ICRC’s cars, transportation of goods and citizens via the Lachin road. The importance of addressing the problem that caused the protests was mentioned.
The minister also said that over 3,000 vehicles have recently passed along the Lachin road, which is why the assertions of the Armenian side about a "blockade" and a "humanitarian crisis" have no basis.
The Azerbaijani side expressed readiness back in December 2022, if necessary, to render assistance to local Armenian residents directly or through the ICRC.
The views on other issues of mutual interest were exchanged during the meeting.
