FM Bayramov highlights Azerbaijan’s regional initiatives at ECO meeting

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has highlighted the country’s regional initiatives and connectivity projects at a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO).

Bayramov addressed the meeting on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, discussing the implementation of the Khankendi Communiqué and Action Plan adopted at the 17th ECO Summit, held in Khankendi, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

He particularly highlighted the launch of the ECO Clean Energy Centre in Baku and the role of Shusha as the ECO Tourism Capital for 2026.

The minister also emphasised Azerbaijan’s role along the Middle Corridor, including through the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the Alat Port. He also highlighted Azerbaijan’s contribution to green digital integration through the Digital Silk Road.

Bayramov drew attention to the strategic synergy between the South Caucasus and Central Asia, noting Azerbaijan’s membership and active participation in the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asian Countries in Cholpon-Ata, as well as the upcoming summit in Avaza.

The Azerbaijani foreign minister also briefed participants on the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process following the August 2025 peace summit in Washington. He particularly highlighted confidence-building measures, the removal of transit restrictions, and large-scale reconstruction and development projects underway in the liberated territories of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur.
