Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of security and stability in Azerbaijan's relations with its neighbors during a panel discussion at the Antalya Diplomatic Forum on April 12, 2025.
Bayramov, speaking at the session titled “Challenges and Opportunities for Regional Cooperation in the South Caucasus,” reaffirmed Azerbaijan's commitment to peace and stability in the region, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He expressed his confidence that the conclusion of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia would eventually be legally formalized.
The Foreign Minister also underscored the critical issue of direct communication between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan, highlighting its significance for the country’s security: “This issue is very important for Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan must have a safe direct connection with Nakhchivan,” Bayramov stated.
The panel featured high-level discussions with prominent regional leaders, including Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili. Moderated by Nigar Göksel, Türkiye/Cyprus Director of the International Crisis Group, and TRT World journalist Auskar Surbakti, the conversation focused on key regional dynamics and aspirations for long-term peace and cooperation in the South Caucasus.
The discussion covered the ongoing normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, viewed as a pivotal factor for long-term regional stability. Additionally, the panel addressed efforts to normalize relations between Türkiye and Armenia, a process seen as essential for broader reconciliation and fostering economic integration across borders.
Speakers emphasized the importance of promoting sustainable development and inclusive economic growth, stressing that pragmatic cooperation should take priority over divisive political issues. There was broad agreement among panelists that the South Caucasus can only unlock its full potential through closer collaboration and mutual trust.
