FM: Full repeal of 907 amendment to strengthen Azerbaijan-US partnership
The repeal of the US 907 amendment marks the beginning of a new era of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has said.
Speaking at a special Cabinet meeting dedicated to President Ilham Aliyev’s recent visit to Washington, Bayramov expressed hope that President Donald Trump’s administration would work with the US Congress to ensure the full removal of the amendment, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The minister also highlighted progress made during the visit in the energy sector.
“Signed agreements will broaden cooperation in both traditional and non-traditional energy projects, strengthen our energy security, and create new opportunities for regional collaboration,” he said.
The 907 amendment, passed in the 1990s, had restricted US aid to Azerbaijan. Its repeal is seen as a significant step in deepening bilateral relations.
